If you want a delicious and refreshing cold drink on hot summer days, learn how to make Iced Coffee at home with just a few simple ingredients and no fancy coffee machine.
Describe iced coffee.
When the weather warms up, I love to grab an iced coffee from my go-to cafe.
But did you know that you can make iced coffee without a coffee maker or coffee machine at home? All you need is a pot of coffee.
Your ice coffee recipe calls for a coffee maker that produces a potent brew, but any coffee maker will do.
If you have a coffee machine, you can use your preferred coffee capsule, and if you make coffee from ground beans, you can use your preferred coffee ground strength.
Is Cold Brew Coffee Just Iced Coffee?
There is no heat used in the brewing of cold brew coffee.
Iced coffee, on the other hand, is made by brewing regular coffee, cooling it on ice, adding syrup, and topping it off with cold milk.
Iced coffee has the same flavor as hot coffee, but it is less robust because of the water added by melting ice. Because of this, the flavor isn't as robust as that of cold brew.
Does iced coffee affect ketosis?
You can't get a real cup of iced coffee from a coffee shop without sugar because of the simple syrup.
Still, if you want an iced coffee that won't ruin your keto diet, you can ask for:
- Syrup that doesn't contain sugar
- Substitute stevia or another sugar-free sweetener for the syrup.
Remember that the sugar-free items at the coffee shop are made with sugar substitutes.
They don't fit neatly into the strict keto category because even though they contain no carbohydrates, they often cause an increase in blood sugar and a subsequent desire for sweets.

Iced Coffee Preparation Instructions
Making iced coffee is a breeze because you only need a few simple ingredients and a short amount of time.
Ingredients
- Coffee, brewed Any method you like for making black coffee will do for this recipe.
- The milk that we drank was either made from oats or almonds.
- Any flavored syrup will do, such as caramel, vanilla, or maple, but the simplest syrup is made with just two ingredients and requires no cooking.
Preparing the Coffee Brew
First, brew some coffee, whether you prefer a French press, an automatic machine, or instant.
The key to a good iced coffee is using a robust coffee. When ice cubes are added to a cup of hot coffee, the beverage weakens.
Therefore, it is imperative that you select a robust coffee strength. On my Nespresso strength scale, I'd choose between 1o and 13 for a typical cup.
A coffee press is used to brew the coffee.
One cup of coffee requires a heaping tablespoon of ground coffee added to the coffee press. To finish, pour in water that is almost at a boil and give it a quick stir.
Then, place the plunger in the pot, keeping it a few centimeters above the water, and let it sit for three to four minutes.
Press the coffee to brew it.

Making Coffee with a Capsule Maker
Cold water should be added to the coffee maker's reservoir.
I suggest using a capsule with a strength rating of at least 10 or a lungo capsule, as you only have time for one cup of strong coffee.
To get two espresso shots, press the button once, then swap the capsule.

Getting Ready to Make Some Iced Coffee
Get some tall glasses and empty the ice cube trays into them.
Use ice cubes as a base for the hot coffee.
Then pour in the syrup. When making plant-based milk, I like to add two teaspoons of vanilla syrup first.
If you can, get me some barista oat milk or barista almond milk; I prefer the creaminess of these milks. Alternately, for creamier dishes, use half-and-half or heavy cream.
Preparing an Iced Latte
To make an iced latte, follow the same steps as for a regular latte, except replace the two tablespoons of milk with one cup of frothed milk.

Aromas and Flavorings for Syrup
Homemade syrup is superior, but store-bought is acceptable. With no need to waste money on expensive store-bought syrups, you can save money while still enjoying a consistently delicious beverage.
A simple syrup can be made by combining 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of sugar in a saucepan and adding the desired flavorings. Be sure to stir it up and get it boiling. Stir constantly while cooking to ensure sugar dissolves.
Once it has cooled to room temperature, remove it from the heat and pour it into a glass container. Then, add any natural extract you like, such as vanilla, caramel, or coconut.
To keep the syrup fresh for up to a week, just place it in the refrigerator.

Coffee Sweetener Without Sugar
Substitute a sugar-free granulated sweetener, such as erythritol or allulose, for the sugar in the above recipe and you'll have a sugar-free syrup.
Keep in mind that sugar substitutes have a higher melting point than regular sugar. Erythritol requires a higher temperature to dissolve, 250 degrees Fahrenheit (120 degrees C), making the process more time-consuming and laborious.
Additionally, it can form crystals upon cooling.
Iced Keto Coffee
This iced coffee can be modified to be ketogenic by replacing a few ingredients.
- You can use sugar-free syrup, such as the one I made using my keto maple syrup recipe, or you can buy one already made.
- Rather than using plant-based milk, you can make a creamer or half-and-half for your iced coffee with heavy cream.
